Entrepreneurship and Africa’s Quest for Development

Persisting stagnation and in some cases deterioration in the development indices of most countries in Africa has continued to resonate the need for other alternative approaches for development in the continent. Emerging evidence suggests rather forcefully that entrepreneurship is one of those pragmatic approaches that could fast track Africa’s trajectory to development. Entrepreneurship therefore has emerged as a legitimate approach for stimulating economic development and fostering rapid transformation of even the most backward economy. The imperativeness of integrating entrepreneurship culture in the mainstream development plan of economies in Africa is therefore not debatable. Incidentally, limited efforts have been directed in this regard, thus creating serious gap that requires urgent research and policy attention.
